Not Alone is a compelling and informative 50-minute documentary about teens in face-to-face talks around the topics of anxiety, depression, and self harm. Driven by a desire to understand why her best friend killed herself at 16, Jacqueline Monetta gets teens suffering to share their struggles with mental illness and suicide attempts. Through her intimate interviews, the audience learns about depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicide attempts, getting help, and treating mental illness.
As an offshoot of the recent Coffee & Conversation event about preventing teen suicide, we will show the film in the Saint James Parish Hall (basement floor) and then have a facilitated discussion. This event is appropriate for parents, teens, and all community members who wish to learn about and reduce the stigma of mental illness.
