Sunday, February 23, 4:30pm. European baroque masterpieces and early European and American hymnody help us consider our reliance on God and the goodness of offering our praise.

Musical highlights include:

  • Henry Purcell’s rarely performed Let My Prayer Come Up into Thy Presence
  • Heinrich Schütz’s Herr, wenn ich nur dich habe and Habe deine Lust an dem Herren
  • The haunting yet joyful shape-note tune Star in the East (Hail the Blest Morn, See the Great Mediator).

Choral Evensong is an opportunity to spend time in quiet contemplation while listening to and participating in music that brings us into deeper understandings of the mysteries of God.

During each evensong event, a freewill offering is collected, with all proceeds going to a local, regional, or national charity. Receptions follow each evensong event.

Service and reception are free and open to the public.
